A few days ago we had a very interesting Twitter space conversation with Fomoboyz, they have previously generated $20 million in revenue for their Web 2 and Web 3 clients.
They shared three key secrets about taking a Web 2 business into Web 3.
This knowledge is for Web 2 companies that want to expose themselves to Web3 but also for marketers who are here to help Web2 companies to pivot to Web3 and take this opportunity before it's too late.
Here they are:
1 - ADAPTABILITY
You need to be able to adapt to the space.
You cannot just come and use all these Web2 tactics on Web3.
It just doesn't work.
Your brand recognition won't be enough.
You need to understand the logic of community.
You need to understand that things are done here in a different way.
You need to manage expectations.
You cannot just copy and paste and hope that your legacy will be enough.
2 - PARTNERSHIP
You need to work with people who are already involved in the space.
Recognisable players.
You need to find good partners, good advisors, and good communities to partner with.
You can't just be like:
“Hey, you know, I'm going to add a blockchain on my homepage, hire some consultants.”
And then pretend that you’re a Web3 invested company.
It doesn't work like that.
You need to partner with existing players, advisors, foundations, and infrastructures.
For instance, Gucci worked with Sandbox.
Sandbox is a pure player in Web3 that is not part of the Animoca brand organization.
3 - MISSION
You need to give people a reason to join.
You cannot just show up and sell an NFT.
It has to mean something different than money.
One of the key pieces of advice from FOMOboyz was not to focus on the money but to focus on what you can add to the space.
How can you contribute?
With Web2 companies, it’s easy; they usually already have an existing business model and cash flow, and they don't need money.
So they shouldn’t enter Web3 for quick profit.
They should enter Web3 to develop their community, to reach a different kind of audience, or to connect with the existing community on a much deeper level.
One of the key pieces of leverage that Web3 solutions are bringing to businesses is to have loyalty programs that are much deeper, more meaningful, interactive, and immersive.
This is something that web2 companies can think about.
It's an easy way to enter web3 while l rewarding existing customers and developing a broader fan base across this ecosystem.
To summarize:
-Adaptability
-Partnerships
-Mission.
This is how you pivot web2 to web3 in the best possible way.
That's it. See you in the next one,
